> Day 1: Istanbul
Welcome to Turkey. After clearing customs and immigration, your representative will meet you at the airport and assist you to your private transfer. Enjoy the afternoon at your leisure in Istanbul.
> Day 2: Istanbul – Istanbul Classics Tour
After breakfast enjoy a half-day tour of the classical sites of Istanbul. Begin at the magnificent Hagia Sophia. This marvelous Byzantine basilica was built in the sixth century and today is sometimes called the Eighth Wonder of the World. Continue to the Blue Mosque, one of the best examples of classical Turkish architecture, this 17th-century Ottoman mosque is famed for being the only in the world with six minarets. You will visit the Hippodrome, the former centre of sporting and political activities in Constantinople. During the visit you will be able to see the Obelisk from Egypt, the Serpentine Column from Delphi and the fountain of Willhelm II. Your tour will end at the Grand Bazaar, which in addition to its historical importance, is a bazaar that will tempt you with its rich collection of precious handmade carpets, jewelry, leather and souvenirs. > Day 3: Istanbul – Bosphorous Cruise
Today you will enjoy a Bosphorous Cruise tour. Your tour starts with a visit to the 17th century Egyptian Spice Bazaar which is full of the mystical aromas of various spices and colorful shops selling fruit, vegetables, flowers, and fish etc. Next you will board your Bosphorus Cruise boat . The Bosphorus is the waterway separating the two continents of Europe and Asia. As you travel, you will enjoy extravagant baroque palaces of the Ottoman sultans: Dolmabahce and Beylerbeyi, the Besiktas commercial district, Rumeli Fortress, the Ortakoy area known for handicrafts and night life, and the famous Kizkulesi light house. > Day 4: Istanbul, Kusadasi/Izmir
After breakfast transfer to the airport to meet your flight to Izmir. Transfer to your hotel in Izmir or Kusadasi, where you can enjoy an optional private tour to Pergamum or spend the rest of the day at your leisure. (B, D)
> Day 5: Kusadasi/Izmir – Ephesus Tour
After breakfast depart for your private full-day tour to the ancient city of Ephesus. Ephesus is among the best-preserved ancient sites in the Mediterranean. Your tour will begin at the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Continue to the Library of Celsus, Temple of Hadrian, Theatre and Odeon. Following the archeological site, visit the House of the Virgin Mary. In the afternoon return to your hotel for relaxation. (B, L, D)
> Day 6: Kusadasi/Izmir
Spend a relaxing day enjoying the crystal clear waters of the Aegean or sent off on further exploration of Turkey’s wonderful ancient sites. Ask your Leisure Travel Consultant for additional sightseeing recommendations. (B, D)
> Day 7: Kusadasi/Izmir, Pamukkale
After breakfast depart for Pamukkale. Meaning “White Castle” in Turkish, Pammukale is known for its dazzling white, petrified lime cascades and thermal waters. Explore the ancient Roman city of Hierapolis. While here you will visit the Apollo Temple, Monumental Nympheum (a 4th century Basilica), the Theatre, and the well preserved Necropolis. Overnight at a thermal hotel and spa in Pamukkale. (B, L, D)
> Day 8: Pamukkale, Turquoise Riviera
This morning drive north through Taurus Mountains towards Antalya. Upon arrival to the Antalian region, known as the Turquoise Riviera, visit Perge. Perge is an important city of ancient Pamphylia. Visit the Theatre noted for the marble relief work of its stage and its three sectioned memorial fountain. Then visit the city gate flanked by two lofty towers, a long colonnaded way that was once lined with shops and mosaic pavements, the Agora and buildings that once houses the Baths and Gymnasium. Continue to Aspendos, the site is the best preserved Theatre of antiquity which seats 15,000. Visit the Galleries, stage decorations and the acoustics all reflect the success of the architect. Finally, visit the Theatre Basilica and Agora, the remains of one of the largest aqueducts in Anatolia. The tour will end with drop off at your hotel on the Turquoise Riviera. (B, L)
> Day 9: Turquoise Riviera
Today you can enjoy your sea front resort overlooking the blue waters of the Mediterranean or take an optional excursion to the nearby sites. Travel to Demre to visit the best examples of Lycian tombs at Myra and the Church of St. Nicholas the saint to who is referred to as Santa Claus. After lunch you will sail over turquoise waters to the picturesque Kekova Island. Discover the extraordinary underwater ruins of the sunken city of Simena and visit the noteworthy Lycian necropolis at Teimiussa. There are opportunities to swim and snorkel if desired, so don't forget your bathing suit and towel. (B)
> Day 10: Turquoise Riviera
Explore the Turquoise Coast at your leisure. Ask your Leisure Travel Consultant for their personal tips of favorite activities, beaches and excursions while in the area. (B)
> Day 11: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Antalya Airport for your flight to Istanbul where you will connect to your international flight. (B)
